About JFIF
JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) is the container specification that ordinary JPGs already use. Certain Windows and Chrome configurations save downloads with a .jfif extension instead of .jpg, which confuses upload forms and older editors even though the bytes are identical to a normal JPEG.
About PNG
PNG is lossless, transparent-capable, and accepted by every application and upload form in existence. Converting to PNG guarantees the file opens, at the cost of a larger size than JPG.
Why convert JFIF to PNG?
Convert JFIF → PNG when a program refuses the file purely because of its extension, or when you want a lossless copy to edit further. If size matters more than losslessness, convert to JPG instead.
