Which file types can I compare?

PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx/.xlsm), CSV, TSV, Markdown, JSON, XML, HTML, log files and plain text — and you can mix them, for example an original .docx against the signed PDF you got back.

Can I compare a Word file to a PDF?

Yes. Text is extracted from each file first, then compared, so the original formats don't have to match. That is the fastest way to check whether a PDF you were sent still matches the Word draft you approved.

How does it compare Excel files?

Each sheet is flattened to tab-separated rows in sheet order, so a row that changed, moved, was added or deleted shows up as a highlighted line. It's meant for spotting content changes in exports and price lists, not for auditing formulas or cell formatting.

Why does my scanned PDF come out empty?

A scanned page is an image, so there is no text layer to extract. Run it through our OCR tool first, then paste the recognised text into one of the panes.

What do line, word and character mode do?

Line mode is best for contracts, exports and code — it shows changed lines side by side. Word mode is best for prose where a sentence was reworded. Character mode catches tiny edits like a changed digit in an amount or an account number.

Should I ignore whitespace?

Usually yes, and it's on by default. PDF and Word extraction produces inconsistent spacing and line wrapping, so without it you get hundreds of false differences that are only layout, not content.

Is there a file size limit?

Free users can load files up to 10 MB per side. Pro removes that cap — after that you're only limited by your own device's memory, since everything is processed locally.

Can I save the result?
