What people use it for

  • Compare branding on retail cartons, mailers and shipping boxes before ordering samples.
  • Preview jewellery or gift packaging with a separate lid and base.
  • Design an open-ended product sleeve or a sliding drawer with independently branded parts.
  • Explore curved pillow packaging for small gifts and accessories.
  • Share four packaging views with a client or teammate in one ZIP.
  • Print a paper prototype to check artwork placement and discuss fit with your packaging supplier.

How will your artwork look on a finished box?

A flat logo does not show how a design meets at corners, wraps around a sleeve or sits on a lid. Compare your branding on a folded preview and a flat layout before committing to a printed sample. Choose a retail carton, mailer, shipping box, two-piece gift box, open-ended sleeve, sliding drawer or curved pillow box.

The five visual presets — Sunday, Moss, Atelier, Daybreak and Good Things — change the sample branding, colours and finish, not the physical structure. They preserve your uploaded artwork and dimensions. You can replace the sample text with your own brand, tagline and small print, or start blank.

From panel artwork to a packaging preview

Select a face by clicking the 3D box or a panel in the flat template. Add PNG, JPG or WebP artwork, then fit or fill the panel, rotate it and adjust its position and size. Dragging and resizing happen in the small selected-panel editor, not directly on the 3D surface. Separate gift-box lids and drawer sleeves can carry their own artwork.

A PNG export captures your current camera view at 1600 × 1600 pixels; Pro adds 3200 × 3200 pixels. The four-angle download includes angled, front, back and top views as 1600-pixel PNGs, and restores your view afterwards. A transparent background can help when placing a mockup into a presentation. These are rendered design previews, not photographs of a manufactured product.

What can a printable template tell you?

SVG and PDF downloads contain actual-size prototype layouts with vector cut and fold paths. Artwork is rasterised, so these are not fully vector artwork files. The PDF is one custom-sized sheet, not automatically tiled across A4 or Letter pages. Print at 100%, rather than fit-to-page, and check that your printer supports the sheet dimensions.

A paper sample helps you review placement and discuss changes with a supplier, but the templates are not validated industrial dielines. Board thickness, production bleed, tolerances and structural fit are not guaranteed. The pillow shape uses approximate bowed faces and curved closure guides. Test the material, closures and fit before manufacture; the preview does not certify a working physical box.

Keep unfinished packaging designs private

Your artwork and exports are processed in your browser, without a file-upload service or external image renderer. Save an editable .boxmockup project locally to keep its settings and embedded artwork for another session. For related product imagery, use the Product Size Visualizer to illustrate dimensions or the Listing Photo Fixer to prepare real product photos.

How it works

  1. 1

    Choose a structure and dimensions

Pick one of seven box structures. Enter dimensions in mm, cm or inches, within 15–600 mm per side. Gift-box dimensions describe the base; drawer dimensions describe the inner tray.

  2. 2

    Add branding to each panel

Choose a visual preset or start blank. Click a face in the 3D preview or flat template, then add PNG, JPG or WebP artwork. Adjust fit, position, size and rotation in the selected-panel editor, and copy it to other faces if needed.

  3. 3

    Check the view and folding

Rotate and zoom the preview, choose a camera angle, adjust folding and inspect separate parts. Choose a finish, background, transparency and ground shadow. Undo and redo let you revisit design changes.

  4. 4

Export or save your editable design

Download a PNG mockup, four camera angles as a ZIP, or an actual-size SVG/PDF prototype template. Save a local .boxmockup project to reopen with its artwork later. Print templates at 100% and check a physical sample before production.
